Tottenham Targets Savinho and Marmoush in Squad Reshape
Tottenham are deep in talks with Manchester City over an ambitious double move for forwards Savinho and Omar Marmoush, as Roberto De Zerbi accelerates his rebuild of Spurs’ attack.
Negotiations between the clubs are progressing, according to sources, though no agreement has yet been struck. The conversations are live, serious and shaped by one key question: how far are Spurs prepared to go financially to land both?
Savinho ready to move on
Savinho has been on Tottenham’s radar for some time. Spurs first made a move in 2025, only to see the Brazilian winger decide to stay and fight for his place at Etihad Stadium.
That gamble has not paid off. Last season he started just seven Premier League games, a frustrating return for a player City signed from Troyes in 2024 for £30m. At 22, and with his pathway blocked, he is now minded to leave in search of regular football.
For De Zerbi, Savinho offers pace, width and the sort of direct threat Spurs badly lacked in a campaign that yielded only 48 league goals in 38 matches. For City, he represents an asset whose value they expect to have grown.
Marmoush out of favour but still producing
Marmoush’s situation is different but tells a similar story. Signed from Frankfurt in 2025 for £59m, the 27-year-old slipped down the pecking order under Pep Guardiola in the 2025-26 season.
He still found a way to contribute. Eight goals in 36 appearances across all competitions is a respectable return for a forward no longer fully trusted as a starter. Yet that dip in status has left his future open and City willing to listen.
The club’s exact valuation of the pair remains unclear, but there is no doubt about their stance: City expect to make a significant profit on both Savinho and Marmoush if they sanction a sale.
De Zerbi’s attack becomes the priority
De Zerbi has already torn into Tottenham’s midfield this summer. Mateus Fernandes has arrived from West Ham United and Sandro Tonali from Newcastle in deals totalling £185m. That area of the pitch has been overhauled.
The problem last season, though, was not just control. It was cutting edge. A 17th-placed finish in the Premier League and that meagre tally of 48 goals laid bare the scale of the attacking rebuild required.
De Zerbi has been clear: the front line must change. Savinho and Marmoush would give him very different options – a young, explosive wide man on one side and a more seasoned, versatile forward on the other.
Gakpo interest complicates the equation
Tottenham’s recruitment puzzle does not end with City. The club remain interested in Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo, who has long been admired in north London.
That interest comes with a hard financial reality. It is unclear whether Spurs can realistically fund a move for Gakpo on top of potential deals for both Marmoush and Savinho. Something may have to give, whether in targets or in outgoing sales.
City’s summer of exits continues
For City, talks with Spurs fit into a broader theme. This has already been a summer of notable departures.
Captain Rodri has gone. Midfielder Tijjani Reijnders has moved on. Second-choice goalkeeper James Trafford has also been sold. The squad that dominated English football is being reshaped, piece by piece.
Savinho and Marmoush could be next out of the door. If Tottenham get their way, they will walk straight into De Zerbi’s new-look attack – and into the pressure of dragging Spurs away from the wrong end of the table.
