Manchester United and Juventus in Talks for Joshua Zirkzee Loan

Manchester United are in advanced negotiations with Juventus over a loan move for Joshua Zirkzee that would include an option to buy this summer.

The Italian giants have turned to the Dutch forward after seeing their pursuit of Randal Kolo Muani collapse, according to British outlet The Sun. With their centre-forward search stalled, Juventus have moved quickly, and Zirkzee has shot to the top of their shortlist.

Crucially, the player’s camp is on board. Zirkzee’s representatives have given a positive response to Juventus’ proposal, clearing a major hurdle in the process and pushing talks between the clubs into a decisive phase.

United, for their part, appear ready to cut their losses. They are prepared to let the 25-year-old leave on loan with an option to buy set at around £30 million, despite paying roughly £36.5 million to bring him to Old Trafford in 2024. Inside the club, the feeling is that the proposed fee now better reflects his market value after a season in which he never truly established himself.

Zirkzee has drifted to the margins of United’s plans. Across last season, under both Ruben Amorim and Michael Carrick, he managed only five Premier League starts. For a forward signed with clear expectations, that lack of rhythm told its own story.

Interest in him this summer is strong, with several clubs monitoring his situation, but Juventus currently lead the race. The Turin club had been close to securing Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain after his underwhelming loan spell at Tottenham. Talks broke down over the financial terms, though, and the deal stalled.

That opened the door. Zirkzee quickly emerged as the alternative as Juventus intensified their hunt for a new focal point in attack.

His record at United – nine goals in 75 appearances – hardly matches the fanfare that greeted his arrival, yet his profile still appeals to a club looking to reshape its forward line. He is also keen on the move and open to a switch to the Allianz Stadium.

There would be no culture shock for him in Serie A. Before joining United, Zirkzee spent one season on loan at Parma and two with Bologna, experiences that give Juventus confidence he can adapt quickly to Massimiliano Allegri’s demands and the rhythm of Italian football once again.

Now the talks focus on the fine print: the structure of the loan, the conditions of the £30 million option, and how much of his wages each club will shoulder.
