Hansi Flick Confident in Lamine Yamal’s Return to Form Ahead of Rayo Vallecano Match

Hansi Flick Confirms Faith in Lamine Yamal's Recovery

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has shown full confidence in young talent Lamine Yamal, who appears to be regaining his top form after a tough injury layoff. The 19-year-old winger is starting to enjoy playing football again following a challenging phase that included a serious hamstring injury and demanding international matches.

Long Road Back from Injury and World Cup

Flick wants fans to feel reassured about Yamal’s fitness and performance as he edges closer to his best level. The teenager has been under the microscope after a slow start this season, recovering from a hamstring injury sustained in April. Despite a modest debut against Elche, Yamal displayed glimpses of his exceptional skill during Barcelona’s recent win over Athletic Bilbao. His manager believes the young star's progress is clear as they prepare to face Rayo Vallecano.

“I know everyone is worried about how is Lamine, how is he doing. And of course, look at his situation, he played a World Cup after a huge injury,” Flick said. “Now he’s coming back after three weeks holiday... and also the first game maybe was not his best game. But I said this, I was very happy that he starts the game and he worked for the team.”

Building Fitness with Full Matches

A key part of Yamal’s comeback has involved getting steady minutes on the field. Flick pointed out the importance of the winger playing complete games to build endurance and confidence. The coach was particularly pleased when Yamal completed all 90 minutes against Athletic Bilbao.

“He played 90 minutes against Bilbao. And for him at the moment, it’s also good to have 90 minutes on the pitch,” Flick added. “We saw him in some situations really on this top level. And now, you couldn’t see this in the training session today, but I saw it and it was excellent. Everyone loves Lamine and he’s in a good way. And we have to support him and we do that.”

Mental Boost for the Young Star

Flick also spoke about Yamal’s mindset. After looking frustrated following the season opener at Elche, the player’s mood has improved recently, which is vital since confidence fuels his creativity on the pitch.

“Of course, it’s always good when the players are smiling, but it’s not every day the same day. I’m also not smiling every day -- it’s like that,” Flick remarked.

Squad Depth and Striker Situation

Besides focusing on Yamal, Flick touched on Barcelona’s attacking options. With no new striker signed due to missing out on Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid, Raphinha has taken up a temporary role as centre forward. Flick expressed satisfaction with his squad and the efforts behind the scenes by sporting director Deco to strengthen the team ahead of the transfer deadline.

“Of course I’m happy with my team, Deco is working on that to strengthen the team. We don’t have pressure,” Flick stated.
