Manchester City Signs Allan Elias from Palmeiras for €40 Million

Manchester City have completed the signing of Brazilian winger Allan Elias from Palmeiras, landing the 22-year-old on a five-year deal as their sixth recruit of the summer.

The Premier League champions are understood to be paying around €40 million ($47 million) for Elias, who rose through the academy at the Sao Paulo club and already owns 96 senior appearances despite his age.

City’s Director of Football Hugo Viana made no attempt to play down the club’s expectations.

“Allan is a really exciting player, and we think he will be a big addition to the squad,” Viana said in a statement on Monday. “He has shown throughout his short career so far that he will fight to be the best he can be.”

The move continues a busy window at the Etihad. Elliot Anderson, Geronimo Rulli, Ayyoub Bouaddi, Jeremy Monga and Pierce Charles have all arrived as City refresh the depth and profile of their squad.

For Elias, the step from Florianopolis to Manchester represents the leap he has been chasing.

“This is a surreal moment for me. Manchester City, with everything they have won over the past 15 years, are one of the most attractive clubs in the world for players,” he said. “To be able to sit here today and say I have joined them is the proudest moment of my life. I love Palmeiras and always will -- but the decision to come to City was an easy one.”

The winger made his name in Brazil with direct running and a fierce competitive streak. Now he wants to write his chapter in a story already rich with Brazilian influence at City.

Florianopolis-born Elias said he hoped to be “another good Brazilian” in the Premier League, aiming to follow the path carved out by Gabriel Jesus, Ederson and Fernandinho — all title winners in City blue.

The fee, the contract length, the pedigree of the club he leaves behind: all of it points to a simple reality. City are not treating Allan Elias as a project on the fringes. They are betting on him to be the next Brazilian to matter in Manchester.
