PSG Accelerate Pursuit of Winger Mika Godts

Paris Saint-Germain are not easing into this summer. They are tearing into it.

With Magnus Akliouche already through the door in a €50 million deal, the French champions have moved straight onto their next attacking target, opening official talks with Ajax for highly rated winger Mika Godts.

PSG move fast for Godts

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reports that PSG’s hierarchy have contacted Ajax and begun negotiations for the 21-year-old Belgian, who is coming off a breakout season in Amsterdam. His numbers are the kind that make sporting directors sit up: 17 goals and 15 assists in 44 games across all competitions.

That kind of output, at that age, from wide areas, explains why Paris have accelerated the chase. They are not treating Godts as a long-term idea. They want him now.

Campos goes straight to the source

The turning point may already have come away from the boardrooms.

Luis Campos, PSG’s influential sporting advisor, did not wait for a club-to-club framework before sounding out the player. He went directly to Godts, holding talks described as “very fruitful” and presenting the project in Paris in detail.

The reaction was immediate. Godts made clear his admiration for what Campos laid out and his desire to join PSG. For a negotiating team, that is gold. It hands Paris a strong position as they sit back down with Ajax, fully aware the player is pushing in the same direction.

Ajax cornered by their own success

Ajax, traditionally a selling club but fiercely protective of their best prospects, had hoped to keep Godts for at least another season. His development, his influence, his numbers – all pointed to him becoming a central piece of their rebuild.

Now they are dealing with a familiar but uncomfortable scenario: a young star who wants out, and a superclub prepared to move quickly.

They know Godts wants the French capital. They know PSG can offer wages, status and a competitive platform Ajax cannot match at this stage. The Dutch side are left trying to strike the best possible deal while the player’s will leans firmly towards Paris.

If an agreement is reached, PSG will have secured another attacking reinforcement in short order – a timely one, given the uncertainty over Bradley Barcola. The French winger has attracted serious interest from several Premier League giants, and his future hangs over the rest of PSG’s summer planning.

Godts after Diomande

The move for Godts also carries the echo of a near-miss.

PSG had strongly targeted Ivorian winger Yan Diomande in recent days, only to see that trail lead towards Real Madrid. Diomande is now expected to join the European champions, who are urgently rebuilding their wide options as they prepare another assault on every major trophy.

Denied one young winger to Madrid, Paris have simply pivoted to another in Amsterdam.

This time, with Godts already sold on the project and Ajax braced for his departure, PSG sense a deal they cannot afford to let slip.
