Valencia Negotiates Loan for Harvey Elliott from Liverpool
Valencia are in talks with Liverpool over a loan move for midfielder Harvey Elliott until the end of the season, as the Spanish club push to add creativity without breaking their budget.
The 23-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, struggled for meaningful league minutes there, starting just one Premier League game. Now he could be heading to La Liga in search of a bigger role and a reset.
Valencia, ninth in La Liga last season and outside the European places, have been exploring ways to structure a deal that fits their finances. They want Liverpool to pay around half of Elliott’s wages to make the move possible.
Under new head coach Andoni Iraola, Elliott featured regularly in Liverpool’s pre-season and looked part of the plan. Once the real games started, though, the picture changed. He has been left out of Liverpool’s first two Premier League squads, a clear sign his immediate pathway is blocked.
That has opened the door for Valencia, who see an opportunity as the transfer clock ticks down. La Liga’s window shuts on Tuesday at 23:00 BST. By then, Elliott will know whether his season unfolds under the Anfield lights or in the heat of Mestalla.
