Nottingham Forest Sign Daniel Munoz for £22m

Nottingham Forest have landed Daniel Munoz from Crystal Palace in a deal worth up to £22m, handing Oliver Glasner a familiar weapon on the right flank just days before the transfer window shuts.

The Colombia international signs a three-year contract at the City Ground, with Forest holding an option for a fourth. At 30, he arrives as a ready-made starter, not a project, and walks straight back into the orbit of Glasner, under whom he thrived at Selhurst Park.

Palace, who paid £8.5m to bring Munoz in from Genk in January 2024, bank a clear profit and reshape their squad at the same time. The signing of Anan Khalaili from Union Saint-Gilloise opened the door for Munoz to move on, even after his pivotal role in Palace’s Conference League and FA Cup successes.

Forest’s late-window push

Munoz may not be the last new face through the door at Forest.

The club are weighing up a late move for Newcastle forward Jacob Murphy as they search for attacking reinforcements following Omari Hutchinson’s departure to AC Milan. There has been interest from Forest earlier in the window, with Everton also in the conversation, though Newcastle have not yet received a formal approach.

Newcastle have their own attacking rebuild in mind, tracking Lille’s Matias Fernandes Pardo and Stuttgart’s Bilal El Khannouss as they look to refresh Eddie Howe’s forward line. Any Forest move for Murphy would drop straight into that wider chain of late-window deals.

Eintracht Frankfurt are also back at the table with Forest, pushing to re-sign Arnaud Kalimuendo on loan. The striker spent the second half of last season with the Bundesliga side, and they now want another loan, potentially with an option to buy. His omission from the matchday 18 for Forest’s 2-2 draw at Liverpool on Saturday only sharpened the sense that his future lies elsewhere.

One move that will not be happening is Harrison Armstrong from Everton. After Forest made an approach, the Everton board took a unanimous stance: the forward is not for sale.

Palace shut the door on Henderson

If Forest want more from Palace, they will have to look beyond Dean Henderson.

Reports last week suggested a Forest bid for the Palace goalkeeper and captain, but the answer from Selhurst Park has been emphatic. Henderson will not be allowed to leave before the deadline, with the club determined to give new head coach Pierre Sage a stable core to work with.

Palace’s stance is clear: Munoz can go, Henderson cannot. The rest of their business is being shaped around that line in the sand.

Palace juggle arrivals and unrest

Behind the scenes, Palace are closing in on a complex deal involving Honest Ahanor and Chelsea.

The plan is for Ahanor to join Palace from Atalanta on a season-long loan, then move permanently to Chelsea next summer for around £40m. Because Axel Disasi is already on loan at Selhurst Park from Chelsea, the London club cannot send Ahanor there directly, so Atalanta act as the bridge in a carefully structured agreement.

Not every situation is so neat. Ismaila Sarr wants to leave before the window closes, but Palace insist the Senegal international is not for sale and point to a contract that runs until 2029. Liverpool have made an approach in the past week, with Sarr one of several wide options under consideration at Anfield, including Yankuba Minteh at Brighton.

Sarr has missed Palace’s first two league games of the season through injury, a subplot that only adds to the tension as Tuesday’s 11pm deadline looms.

Munoz, though, is already on the move. Forest have their man, Palace have cashed in, and both clubs now stare down the final hours of the window knowing one more bold call could reshape their seasons.
