Paris FC Pursue Jonathan David as Immobile Replacement

Paris FC have moved into the race to sign Juventus forward Jonathan David, with the Canada international expected to leave Turin after a difficult first season, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

David arrived at Juve from Lille OSC on a free transfer last summer, but the move never truly caught fire. Luciano Spalletti is now ready to move him on, and the 26-year-old finds himself back on the market far earlier than anticipated.

That has alerted Paris FC. Liam Rosenior’s side have already reshaped their attack once this summer, cashing in on Willem Geubbels and bringing in Lassine Sinayoko as a replacement. Then came the real shock: Ciro Immobile’s decision to retire.

Immobile had been expected to go again for at least one more season. Instead, he informed the Paris FC dressing room last month that he would be hanging up his boots, ripping a sizeable hole in Rosenior’s forward line and leadership group.

The search for another attacker was inevitable. David has quickly emerged as a serious option for Les Parisiens, who see an opportunity to revive a proven goalscorer whose Juventus stint stalled almost as soon as it began.

The path to a deal, though, is anything but clear. Atletico Madrid are also in the running, offering David a very different kind of project and a heavyweight La Liga platform.

For Paris FC, this is the test: can they convince a Champions League-level forward, bruised by a year in Turin, to make their project the next chapter of his career rather than head for Diego Simeone’s Atletico?
