During the final hours of the transfer window, Arsenal seemed poised to bring in the promising right-sided attacker from Betis. The plan was to sign Garcia and immediately loan him out to gain first-team experience. Instead, Racing Santander stepped in and arranged a permanent transfer with shared ownership.

Insights from Racing Santander’s Sporting Director

Chema Aragon, the club’s sporting director, shed light on how close Arsenal came to securing Garcia. He explained that the Premier League club led the race until the final moments of the window.

"It seemed like it was done with Arsenal, and then we came in too on loan," Aragon said. "Yesterday things changed, and what seemed to be a loan turned into a shared ownership deal."

He compared Garcia’s style to that of Raul Gonzalez Blanco, highlighting his strong goal-scoring instinct. Aragon added that following Andres Martin's injury, they didn’t hesitate to sign Garcia when the opportunity arose.

Emotional Farewell to Betis

Garcia’s move ends a 14-year relationship with Betis. Having joined the club at age five, the forward found limited chances under manager Manuel Pellegrini last season, starting only twice in La Liga and once in the Europa League.

After leaving the club’s training ground visibly upset, Garcia wrote an open letter to fans expressing his deep connection to Betis.

"I arrived at Betis when I was five years old. I’m leaving after almost fourteen years growing up with these thirteen stripes," he wrote. "Here I learned to play, to compete, to lose, to win and to dream. I went through all the categories of the Betis youth academy until fulfilling the dream of debuting with the first team."

He added, "Betis has been my home since I was a child. And now, although it’s time to move on, there’s something that doesn’t change. I arrived as a Betis fan and I’m leaving as a footballer."

The transfer offers Garcia a chance for regular first-team action in Spain. He is expected to make a quick impact and could debut when Racing Santander face Rayo Vallecano in La Liga this weekend.
