Liverpool Targets PSG's Barcola and Mbaye in Transfer Move

Liverpool’s transfer window is finally threatening to ignite — and the focus is fixed firmly on Paris.

With only weeks left before the deadline, the club have already brought in Jeremy Jacquet, Victor Munoz and Ronald Araujo, but the squad is still short in key areas. The biggest gap is obvious: the space once occupied by Mohamed Salah.

Barcola still the headline target

PSG forward Bradley Barcola remains Liverpool’s top attacking priority. Talks are ongoing over a deal that is expected to cost well in excess of £100 million, a fee that underlines how highly the French champions value him and how determined Liverpool are to reshape their front line around elite young talent.

Yet Barcola might not be the only player heading from Paris to Anfield.

Mbaye emerges as concrete option

Reports in France, including L’Equipe, say Liverpool are preparing a formal offer for Ibrahim Mbaye and intend to submit it to PSG by the end of next week. The forward’s price is now thought to be higher than the initial €40 million figure that circulated earlier in the summer, but he is still seen as a more affordable option than Barcola.

Crucially, Mbaye fits a glaring need. Andoni Iraola is working with an attack that has lost Salah’s goals, creativity and presence. Mbaye is viewed as someone who could operate in that vacant role, giving Liverpool a direct, high-energy option in the final third as they rebuild the structure of their front line.

Gakpo uncertainty sharpens the urgency

The pressure on Liverpool’s recruitment team is increasing. Cody Gakpo is looking increasingly likely to join Tottenham Hotspur, a move that would strip even more depth from Iraola’s forward options.

If Gakpo goes and Salah’s absence remains unresolved, Liverpool’s need for attackers becomes impossible to ignore. The hierarchy at Anfield can see it. The supporters can feel it. The window is closing, and the club cannot afford to drift.

A successful double raid on the European champions — Barcola as the marquee signing, Mbaye as the complementary piece — would send a jolt through the Premier League and a clear message across Europe: Liverpool are not easing into a new era. They are trying to rip it open.
