Kerkez Praises Barcola’s Skills and Potential

Left-back Milos Kerkez shared insights into Barcola’s initial training performances. He emphasized the winger’s speed, dribbling ability, and room for growth.

"He’s a great player. Everyone knows him, obviously. After two or three sessions, you can already see the quality and how much he can still improve. He can become a really good player," Kerkez said. "Really fast, good dribbler, so I think he’s going to help us a lot."

While Barcola injects an attacking spark, Kerkez revealed that Liverpool spent the week working on defensive transitions. The team conceded four goals across their first two matches, leading defenders to review video footage to pinpoint and fix errors.

"For us, especially as defenders, we want clean sheets. The target is to not let them score," Kerkez explained. "We worked to correct those things this week, so I think it should get better."

"We had meetings and video analysis for the defenders. Obviously, we don’t want to keep coming back from behind — we want to start winning from the beginning," he added.

Liverpool approaches the Friday night fixture well-prepared against newly promoted Ipswich Town, who have recorded one win and one loss under head coach Gary O’Neil. Kerkez confirmed the coaching staff conducted detailed analyses of Ipswich’s players and tactics.

"I think obviously we’re analysing everything, so we’ll know what to expect from every player and the tactics," Kerkez concluded. "Every game we prepare thoroughly."
