Cesc Fabregas has set a clear demand for Como's board, asking for a new striker despite his team's impressive 2-1 win over Napoli. The former Spanish international praised Luis Milla but emphasized the need to strengthen their attack ahead of their Champions League debut and ongoing Serie A campaign.

Historic Win, Urgent Transfer Need

Como secured one of their biggest wins recently by beating Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona with goals from Martin Baturina and Anastasios Douvikas. Yet, Fabregas quickly reminded everyone that celebrations must be paired with urgent squad improvements. With tight schedules including Serie A, Coppa Italia, and European matches, Fabregas is keen on adding firepower to avoid overstretching their current striker options.

The club is reportedly in talks with Fiorentina regarding a possible deal for Moise Kean.

Fabregas on Forward Line Challenges

"Obviously, I’m expecting a striker. Douvikas can’t play in Serie A, the Coppa Italia and the Champions League alone. We can’t compete in three tournaments with just one forward," Fabregas told DAZN. "We struggled a lot last season when (Alvaro) Morata was injured for months. You remember how often we had to use a false nine; playing every three days at this level is tough."

Spotlight on Luis Milla

Fabregas also highlighted the significant contributions of Luis Milla, a 31-year-old midfielder who joined Como this summer. Starting his second straight game against Napoli, Milla has become a key part of the midfield engine. Fabregas feels Milla hasn’t received enough recognition in Spain, where younger talents like Pedri and Rodri tend to dominate attention.

"Milla is very underrated in Spain, but that’s normal. With so many great players, some don’t get the spotlight, especially if they aren’t Pedri or Rodri," Fabregas explained. "I’ve followed him for a long time. His career has steadily risen, and now he gets to play in the Champions League. We try to bring in young players, but I’m happy for him and many others."

Learning from Past Tactical Battles

This victory was a milestone for Fabregas personally, after difficulties facing Massimiliano Allegri’s tactics last season during his time at AC Milan. He admitted those tough matches helped him grow tactically.

"This win means a lot. I learned so much from our recent game against Milan. Today, we read the game well. We played very well in the first half. In the second, we knew we faced champions, but we held strong. The quality of their substitutes made me think they still had more options. It felt like being in a sauna," Fabregas said.

Staying Grounded Amid Rising Expectations

Despite the boost from the Napoli victory, Fabregas urged caution to fans. He stressed that the club’s growth will take time and focused immediately on the next challenge, a match against Genoa.

"We have a crucial game left against Genoa. Many matches, the opponents will be better than you; you have to accept that. They have an 80% chance to win, we have 20%," Fabregas warned.
