Troy Parrott Powers Real Betis Past Lille in Champions League Thriller Marked by Ethan Mbappe Red Card

Parrott's Goal Secures Betis Comeback Win Over Lille

Troy Parrott, the former Tottenham forward, continued his strong start at Real Betis by scoring the winning goal in a dramatic Champions League match against Lille. The Spanish side overcame a two-goal deficit twice to claim victory, with a straight red card shown to Ethan Mbappe ending Lille's hopes of a late comeback.

Betis Celebrate Return to Champions League with Victory

Real Betis marked their return to Europe's top club competition with an exciting away win. Despite Lille controlling much of the first half and taking the lead twice in a back-and-forth contest, Betis showed resilience after the break. The sending off of Ethan Mbappe played a key role in helping the visitors grab all three points.

Match Highlights and Key Moments

• Ayase Ueda gave Lille the lead when he scored his second goal in two games, nodding in from close range following a precise cross from Ethan Mbappe.
• Marc Bartra quickly equalized for Betis with a diving header from a cross by Pablo Fornals.
• Alexsandro restored Lille’s advantage with a header from a Gaetan Perrin corner.

Mbappe’s Red Card Dampens Lille’s Chances

The situation worsened for Lille soon after Parrott’s winner. Ethan Mbappe, younger brother of Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe, was sent off following an elbow incident involving Natan. Reduced to ten men, Lille pushed hard for an equalizer, bringing on attacking players including ex-Arsenal and Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud.

Despite the pressure, Betis’ defense stood firm, holding onto the lead for a memorable European victory on French soil.
