Tottenham Eye Gakpo Amid Liverpool's Firm Stance

Tottenham have found a taste for heavyweight cheques. Now they are eyeing Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo and, if the noise around the deal is any guide, this one will not come cheap or clean.

Gakpo’s form dipped last season, his sharp, decisive edge blunted in a Liverpool attack that rarely stood still. That has not deterred Spurs. Reports suggest they are preparing an offer in the region of £70m to prise the Dutchman to north London, a figure that underlines just how far they are prepared to go to reshape Ange Postecoglou’s forward line.

Liverpool’s stance? Publicly firm, privately nuanced. The Mail insist the club “have no plans to sell Gakpo” and that only a “huge sum” would shift their thinking. The Athletic echo that Liverpool have “no intention of selling”, yet in the same breath point out that his value will be assessed against other deals this summer, including Morgan Rogers’ move to Chelsea. The message is clear enough: Gakpo is not on the market, but everything has a price.

If Spurs truly want him, the XXL chequebook comes out again.

Mudryk interest grows as Lampard’s Coventry circle

At Chelsea, the phone has not stopped ringing. Mykhailo Mudryk, newly available again after serving a doping ban, is attracting enquiries from “multiple Premier League clubs”, according to the Mirror. Only one is named: Coventry City, now under the stewardship of Frank Lampard, twice in the Stamford Bridge dugout and clearly not afraid to revisit old ground.

The Sun add more colour, claiming two further Premier League sides have asked the question, with three European clubs also hovering. The Mirror, unable to resist, frame the scramble for the Ukrainian winger with the headline “Mud Fight”. For Chelsea, who have spent heavily and sold aggressively in recent windows, this is another chance to test the market on a player who has never quite settled.

Coventry’s ambition does not end there. They are one of several clubs tracking Everton midfielder Tim Iroegbunam, with interest also coming from Italy, Hull City and Ipswich Town. It is a crowded field for a player whose next move could define his trajectory after Everton.

Hull, meanwhile, are casting their net even wider in midfield. They have already seen a second bid rejected for Augsburg’s Mert Kömür, a sign they are determined to add craft in the centre of the pitch rather than simply make up the numbers in the market.

Arsenal push for Bruno as they juggle big names and bright prospects

Across north London, Arsenal have moved from admiration to action over Bruno Guimarães. As reported by the Guardian, they have opened formal talks with Newcastle United for the Brazilian midfielder, with the clubs currently around £10m apart in their valuations of the 28-year-old. That kind of gap can close quickly once serious negotiation starts, but Newcastle know exactly what they have: a heartbeat of their midfield and a fan favourite.

The Express go even further, suggesting Arsenal “can complete as many as six transfer deals just this week”. The list of potential incomings is bold. Alongside Guimarães sit Vinicius Júnior and Ferran Torres, marquee names that would dramatically alter the feel of Mikel Arteta’s attack.

Reality bites when it comes to Torres. Barcelona want to agree a new contract with the Spaniard, while Paris Saint-Germain and Atlético Madrid have also shown interest. Those lines alone make any move to Arsenal look like an outside shot rather than an imminent coup.

On the exit side, Milan are keen on Gabriel Jesus, whose future at the Emirates is increasingly under scrutiny. Fábio Vieira and Christian Nørgaard are also described as unwanted, as Arsenal attempt to streamline a squad that has swollen during their rebuild.

At the same time, the recruitment team are working at the other end of the age spectrum. Blackburn’s 18-year-old forward Igor Tyjon is on their radar, as is Cardiff’s 16-year-old midfielder Axel Donczew. Then there is Crystal Palace’s Mylo Bernard, just 16 but already operating as a forward, a hybrid profile that ticks multiple boxes for a club obsessed with potential resale value and versatility. Arsenal want to stockpile tomorrow’s stars before anyone else can.

West Ham chase width and goals amid crowded field

West Ham United need a winger and believe Manor Solomon might be the answer. The Tottenham wide man, 27, is on their list, but they are not alone. Fiorentina are also in the hunt, and talks are said to be under way as both clubs probe Spurs’ willingness to deal.

While they work on the flanks, West Ham’s search for a striker has hit resistance. Sunderland have dug in over Wilson Isidor, deciding not to sell to the London club. That refusal has forced a change of plan and sharpened the focus on AZ Alkmaar’s Troy Parrott.

An £18m bid is being lined up for the forward, whose performances have turned heads across the continent. West Ham will not get a clear run at him either. Porto, Como, Ajax, Real Betis and PSV Eindhoven are all in the frame, creating a genuine auction for his signature.

The window is only just warming up. Yet already, from Gakpo’s uncertain Liverpool future to Arsenal’s pursuit of Bruno and West Ham’s scramble for firepower, the shape of the new season is being drawn in boardrooms as much as on the training pitch.
