Roma Faces Uncertainty Over Jayden Oosterwolde After Troubling Medical Findings

Roma's Transfer for Jayden Oosterwolde Hits a Snag Due to Medical Concerns

Roma is reconsidering its loan deal for Fenerbahce defender Jayden Oosterwolde following medical tests that uncovered a muscular problem potentially requiring surgery. The Dutch player, who has Indonesian roots, had arrived at Ciampino airport to enthusiastic fan greetings but soon faced challenges during his medical examination.

Fitness Issues Stall Transfer Progress

Initial medical checks raised doubts about Oosterwolde's condition. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the problem appears more serious than expected, prompting Roma to request additional examinations. The club is now weighing whether to move forward with the deal or step back due to the risk of the player being sidelined for an extended period.

Transfer Details and Club Plans

• Loan fee: €1 million
• Conditional obligation to buy: €15 million
• Contract length: Four years
• Contract value: €1.6 million per year

Manager Gian Piero Gasperini was eager to use the 25-year-old either as a left-back or central defender. Still, the uncertainty surrounding Oosterwolde's fitness complicates those plans.

Current Status and Interest in Franck Kessié

TuttoMercatoWeb reports the transfer is on hold while further medical assessments are conducted. Meanwhile, Roma is exploring options to strengthen its midfield, showing interest in Franck Kessié. Gasperini is keen to reunite with the midfielder, though Juventus remains the leading contender to sign him.

• Roma must first sell a midfielder to fund new acquisitions.
• El Aynaoui is the likely candidate to leave, with Crystal Palace among interested clubs.
• Roma's asking price for El Aynaoui is set at €35 million.
