Real Madrid Eyes Record Transfer for Michael Olise
Florentino Pérez has never been one for quiet re-elections. Back at the helm at Real Madrid, the president is again reaching for a familiar script: a Galáctico, a statement, a signing that shakes the market.
This time, the dream is Michael Olise.
Real Madrid line up colossal Olise bid
Despite Bayern Munich’s firm stance that Olise is not for sale, Madrid are preparing to test that resolve. Spanish journalist Látigo Serrano reports that the European champions are readying an opening offer of €180m (£155m) for the French winger.
That figure alone would place Olise among the most expensive players in history. And yet Madrid are said to be willing to go even higher, prepared to break the current world record of €222m if that is what it takes to land their man.
It would be a classic Pérez move: a young, electric wide forward to bolt onto an already star-studded squad, a commercial and sporting coup rolled into one. Bayern insist Olise is going nowhere. Madrid intend to find out how serious that stance really is.
One player who will not be part of any Bernabéu rebuild is Viktor Gyökeres.
Gyökeres going nowhere as Arsenal links cool
The Swedish striker, fresh from a 21-goal debut season in North London, has been floated in reports as a possible makeweight in a complex chain of moves. He has been linked with Atletico Madrid, in a scenario that would see Arsenal push for Julian Álvarez and use Gyökeres as a sweetener.
That idea has been firmly dampened. Caught Offside have poured cold water on suggestions that Gyökeres could be shipped out as part of such a deal, casting serious doubt over any move involving him heading to Madrid via Atletico.
Arsenal’s forward line, though, is far from settled.
Martinelli considers future as Arsenal chase new left winger
While Gyökeres looks likely to stay put for now, Gabriel Martinelli’s position is far less secure. According to The Times, the Brazilian winger is actively weighing up his future at the Emirates.
The reason is clear enough. Arsenal are prioritising the signing of a new left winger, a move that would cut directly across Martinelli’s role and status in the squad. With only 12 months remaining on his current deal, the clock is ticking.
If Arsenal do push ahead with a big-name wide recruit, Martinelli faces a stark choice: fight for his place with no long-term security, or seek a fresh start elsewhere while his market value remains high.
Manchester United prepare ruthless goalkeeper clear-out
North of London, Manchester United are plotting a very different kind of reset. The club are preparing for a sweeping overhaul of their goalkeeping department, with Andre Onana, Altay Bayindir and Radek Vitek all facing uncertain futures at Old Trafford.
Onana arrived as a marquee signing but endured a turbulent first campaign. Bayindir barely featured. Vitek, the young Czech keeper, is attracting interest from elsewhere.
Promoted trio Hull City, Coventry City and Ipswich Town are all chasing Vitek as they gear up for life at a higher level. United, for their part, appear ready to listen, with a full rethink of their options between the posts on the table.
If all three were to depart, it would mark one of the most dramatic positional overhauls at the club in recent years and underline just how restless the hierarchy remain after another inconsistent season.
Bowen on Villa’s radar after West Ham relegation
Aston Villa, fresh from clinching Champions League football, are moving with the confidence of a club that believes it belongs among Europe’s elite.
Their latest target underlines that ambition. Jarrod Bowen, West Ham’s captain and talisman, is firmly on their radar.
Relegation has dragged West Ham into the Championship and opened the door to suitors. Bowen, one of the few bright lights in a dark campaign, could now be offered a route straight back to the top tier and into the glare of Champions League nights.
Sky Sports report that Villa are weighing up a formal offer, while West Ham are holding out for around £50m. For Villa, it would be a major outlay. For Bowen, it could be the defining move of his career.
Madrid chasing records, Arsenal juggling their frontline, United ripping up their goalkeeping plans, Villa hunting a new star winger: the market is only just waking up. The real questions now are who blinks first, and who dares to go all in.
