PSG Pursues Mika Godts, Premier League Clubs Alerted

Paris Saint-Germain have stepped up their pursuit of Ajax sensation Mika Godts – and the ripple effect is being felt across north London and the north-west.

Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham have all been sounded out over the chance to hijack a potential deal for the 21-year-old, with Ajax valuing the Belgium international at around €60m (£51m).

This is not a speculative link. Talks between PSG and Ajax are understood to have progressed positively, with the French champions turning to Godts after missing out on RB Leipzig livewire Yan Diomande.

Godts forced his way into Europe’s elite conversation last season. In an Ajax side that lurched through a turbulent domestic campaign, he still produced 32 goal contributions and emerged as the brightest light in a dark year in Amsterdam. One season was enough to convince Europe’s biggest clubs that he is ready for the next step.

PSG push on – and won’t stop at Maghnes Akliouche

PSG are closing in on a deal for Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche, but the recruitment drive in attack is not stopping there. Luis Campos wants more firepower. Luis Enrique wants more variety. Godts, in their eyes, ticks both boxes.

The belief in Paris is that the Belgian can slide seamlessly into Enrique’s long-term blueprint, adding another high-ceiling option to what is already one of the most intimidating collections of attacking talent in world football.

Godts is open to the idea. The pull of the French capital, the Champions League stage and the chance to train every day alongside some of the game’s most gifted forwards carries obvious weight. He knows minutes will be hard-earned. He is still interested.

As PSG’s intent has hardened, intermediaries have moved quickly to update the player’s other major suitors. The result: four of England’s biggest clubs are now watching the situation with sharpened interest.

Premier League quartet circling

Arsenal’s need is clear. Mikel Arteta wants a left-sided attacker who can both stretch the pitch and contribute heavily in the final third. Godts fits that profile, and the Gunners have maintained contact with his camp throughout the summer.

Liverpool’s search for another wide option has been a running theme of their window. With a front line that may soon need refreshing, a 21-year-old with elite output in a chaotic Ajax side represents exactly the sort of forward-thinking move their recruitment team has often favoured.

Tottenham, too, are in the market for additional width. Ange Postecoglou’s system demands wingers who can press, create and score. Godts’ numbers and versatility ensure his name has not drifted far from their discussions.

Manchester United’s brief is slightly different but no less relevant. They want a versatile forward, someone comfortable across the front line rather than fixed to one flank. Godts’ ability to operate in multiple attacking roles keeps him firmly on their radar, and sources insist all four Premier League clubs still hold a genuine interest.

For now, none of them are in the driving seat. PSG are.

Ajax dig in – but name their price

Ajax, though, have no intention of rolling over. After a season that cut deep into the club’s pride, losing one of their standout young talents would be another painful blow – and they are determined it will only happen on their terms.

Sources indicate the Dutch giants have set their price at around €60m. Crucially, that figure has not scared PSG away. Discussions are ongoing, and optimism in Paris has not dimmed.

Ajax technical director Jordi Cruyff went public with the club’s stance at the weekend, reinforcing the message that they will not be bullied into a sale.

“Ultimately, players like Godts will leave, but only at the right time and for the right price,” Cruyff told De Telegraaf. “We want to keep him in Amsterdam for at least another year. He is not for sale and otherwise very difficult to buy.”

The line is firm. The door is not completely closed.

A transfer race waiting to ignite

Behind the scenes, PSG continue to probe, confident there is room to manoeuvre if negotiations keep moving. On the other side of the Channel, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham are content, for now, to monitor and wait.

If Ajax’s stance softens before the window shuts, this could flip from a measured pursuit into a full-scale scramble.

The question is simple: who blinks first – Ajax on their asking price, or one of Europe’s giants on their resolve to walk away from a 21-year-old already playing like he belongs at the very top?
