PSG Nears Deal for Ajax Winger Mika Godts Amid Barcola's Liverpool Move

Paris Saint-Germain are closing in on Ajax winger Mika Godts as the French champions quietly clear the runway for Bradley Barcola’s departure to Liverpool.

Two deals, one domino. And PSG know exactly which one has to fall first.

Godts deal drives Barcola exit

PSG have gone back to Ajax with an improved offer for Godts and are now close to the Dutch club’s valuation, with an agreement for the 21-year-old expected as early as this weekend. Inside the club, Godts has been clearly identified as Barcola’s direct replacement, the signing that finally unlocks the France international’s move away.

Jorge Mendes is involved in the talks and is helping to steer negotiations, with the total Godts package anticipated to come in at around €50million. PSG see that outlay as the key to reshaping their attack – and to loosening their stance on Barcola.

Up to now, the Ligue 1 champions had clung to a £145m price tag for the winger. That figure has softened. With Godts edging closer, PSG have informed Liverpool they are ready to lower the asking price, provided the Premier League side step up from their current position.

Liverpool in pole, but price still bites

Barcola has already agreed personal terms with Liverpool. His desire to move to Anfield has been evident throughout the process, and those close to the talks are in no doubt about his preferred destination.

Arsenal have monitored the situation and held conversations about the 23-year-old, but Liverpool remain at the front of the queue. The player has effectively committed to the move. The only real argument left is over the numbers.

Liverpool currently value a deal for Barcola at around £100m. PSG, for their part, believe a compromise can be struck nearer £125m. If the clubs do meet somewhere in that region, Barcola could become the most expensive British transfer of all time, eclipsing last summer’s record fee paid for Alexander Isak by Newcastle.

PSG have told Liverpool there is room to negotiate. They will not hold rigidly to the initial £145m stance, but they expect a substantial shift from Liverpool’s opening valuation before they sign off on the sale.

PSG’s wider attacking reshuffle

This is not a one-off move. It is part of a broader succession plan in Paris.

Ferran Torres already has an agreement in place to arrive from Barcelona, lined up as the replacement for Goncalo Ramos. Maghnes Akliouche has been brought in to cover the departure of Lee Kang-In. Within that jigsaw, Godts is the piece specifically chosen to take Barcola’s spot.

That is why PSG are driving so hard to get the Godts deal over the line now. Once Ajax and PSG find agreement, the final barrier to Barcola’s exit will be the size of Liverpool’s bid.

For the moment, the strategy is clear: Godts is edging towards PSG, Barcola is waiting for Liverpool, and PSG are slowly bending on a valuation that once looked immovable. The next move belongs to Anfield.
