Ovie Ejaria Turns to LinkedIn to Find New Football Club

Ovie Ejaria Seeks New Club Through LinkedIn

Former Liverpool and Rangers midfielder Ovie Ejaria has taken an unusual approach in his search for a new club by using the professional networking site LinkedIn. The 28-year-old, now a free agent, made a public appeal highlighting his ability to play in various midfield and attacking roles.

Free Agent Looking for Opportunity

Ejaria is currently without a club after making only eight appearances in La Liga last season for Real Oviedo, who were relegated from Spain's top division. The ex-England Under-21 international shared details of his past stints with Liverpool, Sunderland, Rangers, and Reading to attract potential teams.

Versatility on Display

In his LinkedIn post, Ejaria emphasized his flexibility on the field, saying he can play centrally in midfield or out wide on the left wing. He wrote: "I'm currently a free agent and looking for the right opportunity. If there's a club searching for a midfielder (6, 8 & 10) or a left winger, please feel free to DM me."

Steven Gerrard Reflects on Ejaria’s Time at Rangers

During the 2018-19 season, Ejaria was loaned to Rangers under manager Steven Gerrard. Although the loan ended early in December 2018, Gerrard had praised Ejaria’s talent. At the time, Gerrard told the Glasgow Times: "Am I disappointed he's gone? Yes. Do I think it's the right decision? No, because I think he had an incredible opportunity here."

Gerrard especially admired Ejaria’s performance during a Europa League play-off against FC Ufa in August 2018. After a narrow 1-0 win in the first leg, Ejaria scored early in the second leg in Russia, helping secure a 1-1 draw that qualified Rangers for the group stage. Gerrard said on Rangers TV: "I thought he was magnificent and I think that is his strongest 90 minutes that he has given us so far."

He added: "We have seen flashes and some good performances, but that was his first real excellent display against a strong team. I thought he was excellent from start to finish."

Looking Ahead

As European leagues start the 2026-27 season, Ejaria hopes to find a fresh contract. Being a free agent allows him to sign outside traditional transfer windows. With experience in England, Scotland, and Spain, he aims for a quick return to professional football.
