Liverpool Closer to Signing PSG Forward Bradley Barcola After Price Reduction

Liverpool Gains Momentum in Bradley Barcola Transfer as PSG Lowers Price

Paris Saint-Germain has dropped their asking price for forward Bradley Barcola, giving Liverpool fresh optimism about completing the transfer before the window closes. Negotiations between the two clubs are moving swiftly with less than a week remaining.

Progress in Talks for Barcola

Early discussions were tough, but Liverpool now seem close to securing the deal. Reports from The Times indicate PSG has cut its initial €170 million valuation down to about £115 million after recent talks. This reduction of roughly £30 million marks a significant step forward.

After failing to land Yan Diomande, Liverpool focused their efforts fully on Barcola. With Tuesday’s deadline fast approaching, club officials are pushing hard to wrap up the agreement.

Potential Record Signing

If completed, Barcola would be Liverpool's second most expensive signing ever. The £115 million fee is just under the £125 million paid for Alexander Isak last year. While Florian Wirtz's total deal was valued at £116 million, only £16 million depends on performance bonuses.

The club now faces the decision whether Barcola is worth this hefty investment. Personal terms should not pose a problem since preliminary contract details are in place and Barcola reportedly prefers joining Liverpool.

Ongoing Search for Right Winger

Alongside Barcola talks, Liverpool remains active in the market for a right winger before the September 1 deadline. Sporting director Richard Hughes is assessing several options after the collapse of the Diomande transfer.

  • Ibrahim Mbaye was considered.
  • Two bids were made for Yankuba Minteh, both rejected by Brighton who want £80 million.
  • Interest was shown in Endrick and Ismaila Sarr, but Real Madrid and Crystal Palace blocked moves.
  • Said El Mala and Matias Fernandez-Pardo attracted some attention, though it’s unclear if Liverpool pursued them further after signing Victor Munoz in June.

What’s Next for Liverpool?

The expectation is that Liverpool and PSG will finalize the Barcola transfer soon. Hughes must move quickly to complete paperwork and medical exams before the window closes. Securing Barcola along with a right winger could make this summer a pivotal one for Liverpool’s squad.
