Liverpool Close to Securing Bradley Barcola as Cody Gakpo Exit Nears
Liverpool Reignite Talks for Bradley Barcola Transfer
Liverpool have resumed negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain aiming to finalize the signing of Bradley Barcola. This significant transfer move is expected to be supported financially by the likely departure of Cody Gakpo, with optimism growing that an agreement will be reached before the transfer deadline.
Renewed Negotiations for a Priority Signing
The Merseyside club have officially reopened discussions with PSG regarding Barcola, as reported by ESPN. Liverpool are pushing hard to complete the deal before the window closes. Their initial bid near £90 million ($122.3m) was promptly rejected by PSG, who currently demand around £135 million ($184.2m) for their prized winger.
Potential Gakpo Sale to Fund Barcola Move
The key to making this deal happen could be selling Gakpo. The Dutch forward is linked with transfers to Tottenham and Manchester City. His exit would give Liverpool the financial backing necessary to meet PSG’s asking price for Barcola.
PSG's sporting director, Luis Campos, confirmed the transfer window remains open and hinted at possible moves before the deadline.
Personal Terms Already Settled
Barcola has been Liverpool’s top target throughout the summer, with personal terms agreed some time ago. Despite ongoing talks, Barcola isn’t pushing for a move away from PSG. He still has two years on his contract and is willing to stay if the clubs can't agree on a fee.
His absence in PSG's first three matches this season, contrasted with his participation in all eight of France's World Cup games, has sparked transfer rumors.
Optimism Grows for Deal Completion
While a financial gap remains between the clubs, confidence is rising that a deal will be struck before September 1. Liverpool are expected to submit a stronger offer within the next day or two, which could decide the transfer's outcome.
If successful, Liverpool will secure Barcola, who turns 24 next week, marking a major signing for the club.
