Liverpool Pauses £145m Bradley Barcola Negotiations

Liverpool’s pursuit of Bradley Barcola has hit a wall. For now, they’ve walked away from the table.

According to L'Équipe, talks between Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain over the 23-year-old forward have been paused, with negotiations stuck on one major issue: the fee. PSG are demanding around £145m for the France international, a figure the Premier League side are refusing to go near.

Liverpool view Barcola as a priority signing to refresh their attack and add another high-end option across the front line. The former Lyon talent fits the profile: young, international pedigree, and already proven at the top level in Ligue 1. But not at any price.

On PSG’s side, the stance is clear. They want a huge sum for a player under contract, even though Barcola is not willing to sign an extension at the Parc des Princes and is open to a move to Anfield. His willingness to leave has not yet softened the French champions’ position.

The timing could prove decisive.

Liverpool are prepared to play the long game and wait until the final 10 days of the transfer window before making their next move. The plan is simple: let the clock tick, let the pressure build in Paris, then see if PSG blink.

There is another layer. PSG are close to finalising the arrivals of Ferran Torres, 25, and Mika Godts, 21, to strengthen their own forward line. Once those deals are over the line, the dynamic around Barcola could shift. A crowded attack, a player reluctant to renew, and a huge bid on the horizon – that is the scenario Liverpool are banking on.

For now, the Reds have stepped back, but not away. They are waiting for PSG’s price to drop. The question is whether the French champions will compromise, or hold their ground and risk keeping an unsettled forward on their books as the window ticks towards its final hours.
