Kylian Mbappe Matches Raul's Champions League Goal Record as Real Madrid Edge Inter 2-1

Mbappe Equals Raul's Champions League Goal Record in Real Madrid Win

Kylian Mbappe scored his 71st goal in the Champions League as Real Madrid secured a 2-1 win over Inter at the Santiago Bernabeu. The French forward's strike helped Jose Mourinho's team claim an important European victory.

Madrid Takes Early Control

Mbappe opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a sharp finish inside the box. Just nine minutes later, the hosts doubled their lead thanks to a mistake by Inter's goalkeeper Josep Martinez. After a back pass from Benjamin Pavard, Martinez lost possession, allowing Federico Valverde to tap in the second goal.

Inter fought hard to get back into the match. Carlos Augusto pulled one back in the 77th minute with a well-taken strike, setting up a tense finale. Despite the pressure, Los Blancos held firm and sealed the victory.

Mbappe Enters Champions League History Books

This goal marked Mbappe's 71st in just 99 Champions League games, moving him into joint-fifth place on the all-time scoring list. He matched Raul's record, who took 142 appearances to reach the same tally. Ahead of them are Cristiano Ronaldo with 140 goals, followed by Lionel Messi, Robert Lewandowski, and Karim Benzema.

Courtois Shines on 100th Champions League Appearance

Thibaut Courtois celebrated his 100th game in the competition with crucial saves. Early stops denied Hakan Calhanoglu and Lautaro Martinez as Inter came out strong. Martinez later made a double save to block chances from Mbappe and Jude Bellingham before half-time, while the post also prevented further damage.

The match saw opportunities at both ends. Curtis Jones hit the crossbar for Inter, and Bellingham missed a chance to make it 3-0 for Madrid before Augusto’s goal tightened the scoreline late on.
