Juventus Pursue Zirkzee as Kolo Muani Deal Progresses
Joshua Zirkzee has given the green light. Now it is over to Juventus.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Manchester United forward has provided initial approval to join the Turin club this summer, with Juventus pushing to secure a loan deal after opening intensive talks with his agent, Kia Joorabchian. The negotiations are described as advanced in terms of intent, if not yet in final detail, with the Italian side eager to move quickly.
This is not a sudden obsession. New football director Ricky Massara has tracked Zirkzee for some time, having already tried to take him to Roma in the winter window. He did not get his man then; he is determined not to miss again.
A forward built for Spalletti
Zirkzee arrives on the market with a mixed recent history but a clear identity. He was one of Serie A’s standout forwards in 2023-24 with Bologna, scoring 12 goals and adding seven assists, his blend of technique and link-up play driving Thiago Motta’s side into the spotlight.
Since moving to the Premier League, though, his trajectory has flattened. Across the past two league campaigns he has managed only 19 starts in 68 appearances, struggling to adapt and losing his place as a regular starter. The talent has never been in doubt; the rhythm and continuity have.
Juventus believe that can change in Turin. Zirkzee’s profile as a modern, technically polished No 9, comfortable dropping deep and knitting moves together, is seen as a natural fit for Luciano Spalletti’s tactical demands. The coach wants a forward who can act as a reference point and a playmaker in one body. On paper, the Dutchman ticks those boxes.
Double strike: Zirkzee and Kolo Muani
Zirkzee is only half of the plan. Juventus are also driving hard for Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani, with Gazzetta reporting that CEO Giovanni Carnevali is working to close a €40 million deal with the French champions.
The strategy is clear: reshape the attack in one bold sweep.
An injury to promising Italian striker Jeff Ekhator has sharpened that need. The Bianconeri cannot afford to drift into the new season short of firepower, and the response from the hierarchy has been aggressive. Talks with United over a loan for Zirkzee run in parallel with the negotiations with PSG for Kolo Muani.
The vision is to marry Zirkzee’s finesse with Kolo Muani’s pace and direct running. One to drop in, combine and create angles; the other to stretch defences, attack space and force back lines to turn. Juventus are convinced that pairing those profiles would give Spalletti a far more dynamic and unpredictable front line than last season’s often static unit.
Clock ticking in Turin
Spalletti now waits. The coach has made his wishes clear and is pressing for clarity on the timing of both deals. Pre-season is approaching, and with it the window to integrate key signings into his system.
Juventus know the schedule offers little margin for error. Their Serie A campaign opens on August 23 with an away trip to newly-promoted Frosinone, a fixture that looks gentle on paper but comes with all the usual traps of an opening day on unfamiliar ground.
By then, the club want their attacking puzzle close to complete. Zirkzee has signalled his willingness. Kolo Muani remains the big-ticket target. Now the question is simple: can Juventus move fast enough to turn this ambitious blueprint into the forward line that will define their season?
