Juventus Target Balogun as Striker Market Heats Up
The striker carousel is starting to spin at full speed across Europe, and Juventus have stepped onto the ride.
Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the Bianconeri are weighing a move for AS Monaco and USMNT forward Folarin Balogun, viewing the 25-year-old as an alternative to Paris Saint-Germain’s Randal Kolo Muani. Juventus want a runner, someone who lives off the shoulder of the last defender and stretches games. Balogun fits that brief.
He will not come cheap. Monaco are expected to demand around €50 million, a fee that reflects both his age and the level of interest already building. Chelsea, PSG and Tottenham Hotspur have all been linked recently, and Juventus know they are stepping into a crowded market rather than a quiet negotiation.
Arsenal plot bold move for Julián Álvarez
North London has its own striker puzzle, and Arsenal are considering a dramatic solution. According to TalkSPORT, the club could be prepared to include Viktor Gyökeres in a player-exchange proposal to land Atlético Madrid forward Julián Álvarez.
Atlético are understood to like Gyökeres, 28, who hit 14 goals in 36 Premier League games last season. He offers power, work rate and a reliable domestic scoring record. Yet he may not be central to Mikel Arteta’s long-term vision, with the manager expected to reshape his forward line this summer.
The problem for Arsenal is simple: Álvarez is expensive and ambitious. A deal would likely climb beyond €150 million, and the Argentina international has identified Barcelona as his preferred destination. Arsenal, for now, have not accelerated their pursuit, leaving the entire idea of a Gyökeres swap parked in the realm of possibility rather than probability.
Around the Emirates, the squad churn does not stop with the No. 9s. TEAMtalk reports that Juventus, RB Leipzig and several Saudi Pro League clubs are tracking Gabriel Martinelli, whose profile as a high-energy wide forward makes him a natural target for clubs looking to inject pace. Leandro Trossard, meanwhile, is said to have agreed a €20 million move to Besiktas, a deal that would trim Arsenal’s attacking options and salary bill in one stroke.
Barcelona eye Romero as defensive reshuffle looms
Barcelona’s search for defensive steel has led them to north London. Fabrizio Romano reports that the Catalan club are monitoring Tottenham Hotspur captain Cristian Romero, with the player’s camp having informed Spurs of his desire to seek a new challenge this summer.
Romero, 28, brings aggression, leadership and a Champions League pedigree. Barcelona, though, are currently prioritizing a forward, so their interest in the Argentina international sits in a delicate balance between admiration and budget reality. Inter are also in the frame, adding a Serie A flavour to the chase for one of the Premier League’s most combative centre-backs.
AC Milan turn to Mazraoui
At San Siro, a new era under Ruben Amorim is starting to take shape, and full-back is one of the first positions under review.
Calciomercato reports that Manchester United defender Noussair Mazraoui has been added to Milan’s shortlist. Amorim previously worked with Mazraoui at Old Trafford and knows exactly what he would bring: energy down the flank, technical quality and tactical discipline. Milan see him as a potential replacement for Pervis Estupiñán, who has been linked with Aston Villa.
The obstacle lies in Manchester. United are not keen on letting the 28-year-old leave, so any deal is expected to depend on whether Mazraoui himself pushes for a move to Italy.
Barcelona’s forward search: Asllani and Vlahovic in focus
Even as they track Romero at the back, Barcelona’s main task this window is up front. Sport reports that the club are exploring a move for Hoffenheim striker Fisnik Asllani and are also assessing free agent Dusan Vlahovic.
Asllani, 23, is admired by the Barcelona hierarchy and comes with a clear price tag: a €29 million release clause. He represents a younger, more developmental option, someone who could grow into the role rather than dominate it from day one.
Vlahovic is a very different proposition. At 26, he is available on a free after his Juventus contract expired, but the financial advantage of a no-fee signing is being eroded by his salary demands. Barcelona are reported to be unconvinced by the numbers involved, opening the door for Besiktas, who are ready to offer him a three-year deal.
Done deals: Greenwood, Tielemans and Diani on the move
Not every story is stuck in the rumour mill. Some have already crossed the line.
Mason Greenwood has completed a move from Marseille to Fenerbahçe, signing a four-year contract. The fee stands at €40 million, with 35% of that sum returning to former club Manchester United thanks to a sell-on clause inserted when he left Old Trafford for Ligue 1.
United have also been busy on the incoming front. The club have announced the signing of Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa after triggering the £35 million release clause in his contract. The midfielder spent three years at Villa Park and played a key role in last season’s Europa League triumph, but now swaps Birmingham for Manchester in search of a fresh challenge.
In the women’s game, London City Lionesses have landed a marquee name. Former OL Lyonnais striker Kadidiatou Diani, 31, joins on a three-year deal for around £500,000, underlining the club’s ambition in the transfer market.
United, Juventus and others test the market
Elsewhere, the transfer board is crowded with moving pieces and half-formed plans.
Manchester United are discussing a possible move for Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, according to Fabrizio Romano, though the Frenchman’s preference is to remain at the Bernabéu. In goal, Radek Vitek is keen to leave Old Trafford amid interest from Celtic, a situation that could reshape United’s depth chart between the posts.
In Italy, Juventus are juggling priorities. Alongside their interest in Balogun, they are ready to refocus on Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario after failing to find an agreement with Aston Villa for Emiliano Martinez, Gazzetta dello Sport reports. Midfielder Douglas Luiz is also open to a switch to Everton, according to Football Insider, a potential Premier League move that would add another twist to Juventus’ midfield planning.
Across Europe, clubs are probing opportunities. Paris FC are weighing a €30 million bid for Juventus and Canada striker Jonathan David, says Tuttosport. AC Milan are leading the race for Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus, per TEAMtalk, as they search for a proven finisher. In Spain, Real Sociedad and Real Betis are tracking Southampton forward Leo Scienza, who has already been on the radar of Tottenham and Everton, AS reports.
Barcelona’s squad decisions ripple out too. Sport notes that Al Nassr and Al Hilal are among the clubs looking at midfielder Marc Casado, while A Bola insists Sporting CP are not currently considering a move for winger Roony Bardghji despite speculation. Ajax, meanwhile, remain hopeful of prising goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen from Barcelona, according to Mike Verweij.
Roma are lining up a move for West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville, reports Corriere dello Sport, as they seek more direct threat from wide areas. Crystal Palace are interested in Arsenal midfielder Christian Norgaard, says the Daily Mail, another sign that Premier League mid-table clubs are ready to test the resolve of the traditional elite.
The window is only just warming up. Strikers are on the move, goalkeepers are in play, and Europe’s biggest clubs are circling the same names. The question now is who blinks first in a market where hesitation can cost you your season.
