Juventus Injury Crisis: Locatelli and Boga's Setbacks
Juventus’ injury nightmare deepened on Monday as the club confirmed knee surgery for Manuel Locatelli and a thigh injury for Jeremie Boga, stripping Massimiliano Allegri of two more key pieces in the heart of the season.
Locatelli blow: surgery and a long road back
The biggest shock came with Locatelli. Juventus announced that the midfielder underwent an operation in Lyon to repair the external meniscus in his right knee, an injury sustained during the 1-1 draw with Milan at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday.
The club statement outlined the procedure; the timeline paints the real damage. Sky Sport Italia report that Locatelli could be sidelined for five to six months, which would likely rule him out until 2027 and tear a huge hole in Juve’s midfield structure.
For a side already relying heavily on his balance, pressing and distribution, it is a brutal setback. The meniscus tear turns what looked like a painful knock against Milan into a long-term absence that will shape the rest of Juventus’ campaign.
Boga sidelined as muscle problems pile up
If that weren’t enough, Jeremie Boga has joined the treatment room as well.
Tests revealed a medium-grade lesion to the femoral biceps in his left thigh. Juventus’ medical staff will reassess the winger in two weeks, but the initial outlook is clear: he is expected to be out for at least a month, with a probable lay-off of around five weeks.
For a player whose game is built on acceleration and one‑v‑one bursts, any muscular issue in the thigh is a serious concern. The club will tread carefully.
A squad stretched to breaking point
The timing could hardly be worse. Against Milan, Juventus were already without Kenan Yildiz, Khephren Thuram, Weston McKennie, Jeff Ekhator, Juan Cabal, Andrea Cambiaso and Pape Matar Sarr. Locatelli and Boga now join that list, turning a selection headache into a full-blown crisis.
What was once a deep, competitive squad suddenly looks threadbare in key areas. Allegri will be forced into tactical improvisation, leaning on fringe players and youngsters as Juventus try to stay on track in Serie A and beyond.
The season is still long, but with Locatelli in a Lyon clinic and Boga nursing a torn muscle, the question is no longer whether Juventus can rotate. It’s whether they can survive this storm at all.
