Jeremy Doku Signs New Five-Year Contract with Manchester City

Jeremy Doku has committed his future to Manchester City, signing a new five-year contract that ties him to the Premier League champions until at least 2031.

The Belgium winger, who arrived from Rennes in 2023, has grown into one of the most explosive attacking threats in England. Still only 24, Doku has already made 131 appearances for City, scoring 22 goals and supplying 34 assists while collecting a stack of major honours: the Premier League, Club World Cup, FA Cup and League Cup are all on his CV.

For a club stepping into a new era under Enzo Maresca, keeping Doku is a statement.

Pep Guardiola’s departure left questions about how City’s core would respond to change. Doku has answered one of them emphatically.

"I have loved my time at City so far, so to have the opportunity to stay for longer is a fantastic feeling," he said after signing. He spoke of a club that has shaped him “as both a player and a person,” stressing how settled he feels in Manchester and how the daily work with the staff is sharpening his game.

Then came the key line for the new boss.

"With Enzo here now I am really excited about the new season. His style of football is the kind we love, so that's exciting for the players."

Maresca, who has stepped into Guardiola’s shoes at the Etihad Stadium, now builds his first City side around a winger tailor-made for high-tempo, front-foot football. With the Premier League campaign kicking off on August 21, the Italian can lean on a wide forward who thrives in one‑v‑one duels and has already proved he can deliver in decisive moments.

A “special dynamic” on the flank

Inside the club, Doku’s rise has not gone unnoticed. City’s director of football Hugo Viana underlined just how highly they rate him.

"Jeremy is a huge talent whose improvement since joining us in 2023 is clear for all to see," Viana said. "He has a special dynamic. He has the right characteristics for what we are looking for in a winger. He really does bring a special quality to our team.

"He deserves this new deal, and I know he will continue his improvement in the coming months and years."

That “special dynamic” has also carried onto the international stage. Doku already has 48 caps for Belgium and featured at the recent World Cup, adding major-tournament experience to a profile that is still developing.

City have locked in a winger entering his prime, one who has already helped deliver trophies and believes the next phase under Maresca suits him perfectly.
