Hull City Pursue Roma Starlet Robinio Vaz on Loan

Hull City are pushing hard to land 19-year-old Roma forward Robinio Vaz in a deal that underlines the club’s intent to make a mark in the Premier League.

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, the newly-promoted side are close to agreeing a season-long loan with the Italian club worth €2m, with an option to buy set at around €30m. For a player who has only just arrived at Roma, it is a bold play.

Roma paid €25m to sign Vaz from Marseille in the winter window earlier this year. A permanent move to Hull at the quoted figure would hand the Serie A side an immediate profit on a teenager who has barely had time to unpack in the Italian capital.

Vaz built his reputation in Ligue 1 at the start of the 2025-26 campaign, scoring four goals and adding two assists in 14 appearances for Marseille. That early burst of form persuaded Roma to move, and he crossed to Serie A midway through the season.

Game time in Italy proved harder to come by. Used exclusively from the bench, Vaz made 12 league appearances for Roma and added just one more goal to his season tally. Even so, his impact in short cameos has clearly been enough to tempt Hull into betting on his ceiling rather than his current output.

The move would also feed into a wider subplot in Rome. Despite talk earlier in the summer that financial fair play pressure would force Roma into selling at least one major asset, the club have so far kept their core intact. Manu Kone, Wesley and Matias Soule all remain at Stadio Olimpico with just a week left of the Serie A transfer window.

If Hull get this over the line, they will be gambling on potential and resale value. Roma, on the other hand, could cash in quickly on a winter investment without touching their established stars.
