Guglielmo Vicario Joins Juventus: Transfer Details

Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario is on his way back to Italy, with Juventus striking a deal that has already earned Fabrizio Romano’s trademark “here we go” seal of approval.

The agreement ends a turbulent spell in north London for the 29-year-old, who slipped out of the picture at Spurs after hernia surgery in March and a difficult season for the club as a whole. Antonin Kinsky stepped in during the run-in, while Tottenham clung to Premier League safety by just two points on the final day.

For Vicario, the writing had been on the wall for months. For Juventus, he has quickly become the solution to a problem they thought they had already cracked.

From Martinez to Vicario

Juventus initially pushed hard to bring in Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa. That pursuit collapsed, forcing the Bianconeri to pivot. Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported that, once the Martinez move fell apart, Juve turned “serious” attention to Vicario and accelerated talks with Tottenham.

Di Marzio detailed how negotiations between the clubs moved at speed, with both sides working towards a loan deal that includes an option to buy. That structure suits Juventus’ finances and gives Spurs a clean way to move on a player keen to return to Serie A.

One sign the move was close: Vicario’s agent travelled to Turin. Officially, the trip centred on Jhon Lucumí discussions, but once in the city, he sat down with Juventus executives to drive the Vicario talks forward. From there, the deal raced towards completion.

Romano’s ‘here we go’ and Spurs’ green light

On Tuesday, Romano confirmed what had been building for days. Posting on X, he revealed that Juventus had agreed a deal with Tottenham for Vicario, describing it as “here we go”. Spurs have accepted a loan proposal with a buy option that is not mandatory.

“Vicario wanted the move,” Romano added, noting that the goalkeeper leaves Tottenham immediately and becomes the new man between the posts for Juventus.

David Ornstein of The Athletic backed up the news, reporting that Tottenham have accepted Juve’s bid: a loan with an option to buy next summer. All parties now expect the Italy international’s signing to go through, especially after Juventus abandoned their chase for Martinez.

So Vicario gets his return to Serie A. Juventus get their new goalkeeper. And Tottenham, having survived a chaotic season and already turned to Kinsky, now commit fully to a reshaped future in goal.
