Ethan Nwaneri Set to Leave Arsenal Amid Transfer Interest

Ethan Nwaneri is expected to leave Arsenal before the end of the summer transfer window, with some of Europe’s most aggressive talent-spotting clubs circling.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reports that the 19-year-old is likely to move on, as the battle for his signature gathers pace. Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig have already been linked with the teenager, while AC Milan are also understood to be tracking his situation closely.

The latest sign that change is coming arrived at Wembley. Nwaneri was left out entirely from Arsenal’s squad for the 3-0 Community Shield win over Manchester City on Sunday, not even making the bench on a day when Mikel Arteta rotated and rewarded several squad players.

Arteta’s words before kick-off only sharpened the sense that a departure is on the table. The Arsenal head coach made clear his admiration for Nwaneri, but underlined the reality of a young player needing minutes, not promises.

"I want him to be at the club, but in the middle, long term, what is best for the player? Ethan needs to play football, and if he stays here, it's because we can guarantee that he can have those minutes. Otherwise, it's just something that is not good for anybody, I think," he said.

That is the crux. Arsenal want to keep one of their brightest academy products. Nwaneri wants to play. Dortmund, Leipzig and Milan offer a different kind of pathway, one built on regular first-team football for young talent.

The clock on the window is ticking. So is the next step in Nwaneri’s career.
