“It was a difficult fight, man against man. They are a top team, honestly they are impressive. They play amazing football so well done to them,” Haaland said in an interview with Amazon Prime. “With all the pressure on us, we had to deliver on the biggest stage. That’s what we did today.”

He added that although Porto created pressure especially in the second half, City managed to hold firm and secure the win. “These are the games we have to win. In the Champions League, you must win or the pressure builds up, and anything can happen.”

By scoring twice, Haaland reached his 36th Champions League goal for City, tying him with Aguero as the club’s joint-leading scorer in Europe’s premier tournament, achieved in just 40 appearances.

“We have to demand a lot from each other, and we have to win games. At Man City, winning games and trophies is mandatory,” Haaland explained about the squad’s mindset.

When asked if Maresca would be pleased with the team's performance in such a hostile setting, Haaland responded, “I hope so. We won away in a tough game. The atmosphere was unreal at times. I hope he’s happy.”
