Eli Junior Kroupi Shortlisted for Men’s Young Talent of the Year

Eli Junior Kroupi’s breakout year has earned him a place on one of football’s biggest stages.

The Bournemouth forward has been shortlisted for the Men’s Young Talent of the Year award ahead of the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony, a nod to a debut season that erupted into life on the south coast.

The 20-year-old is one of three Premier League names in a 10-player list, joining Manchester City’s Ayyoub Bouaddi and Aston Villa’s Johan Manzambi among the contenders. It is rare air for a player who only pulled on a Bournemouth shirt for the first time in August 2025.

From that moment, he barely stopped. Kroupi went on to make 35 appearances across all competitions last season, scoring 13 goals and quickly becoming a focal point of Bournemouth’s attack. His impact was not just eye-catching, it was historic.

By the end of the 2025-26 campaign, he had scored more goals than any other teenager in their debut Premier League season. In a league obsessed with the next big thing, Kroupi didn’t just join the conversation. He led it.

This season has brought a harsh pause.

A foot injury suffered in pre-season forced him into surgery and has kept him sidelined so far. Bournemouth have had to plan without their young star, with medical staff expecting his return in October or November if his recovery continues on schedule.

The Men’s Young Talent of the Year prize will be among the honours handed out at the 70th Ballon d’Or ceremony in London on Monday, 26 October.

By then, Kroupi could be on the verge of stepping back onto the pitch—armed with a major individual nomination and a growing sense that his rise is only just beginning.
