Burton Albion Sign Caylan Vickers from Brighton

Burton Albion have moved to sharpen their attacking edge with the signing of winger Caylan Vickers from Premier League side Brighton.

The 21-year-old arrives at the Pirelli Stadium on a two-year contract, with the Brewers holding an option to extend his stay by a further 12 months. The fee remains undisclosed.

Vickers is no stranger to League One. Last season he took in loan spells at Barnsley and Wigan Athletic, banking valuable minutes and a clear understanding of the division’s demands. That experience is a key part of Burton’s calculation: this is not a raw project, but a young player already battle-tested at this level.

He first emerged at Reading, coming through the ranks with the Royals before earning his move to Brighton. Opportunities on the south coast were limited, though, and he did not make a first-team appearance for the Seagulls.

Now the winger gets a fresh start in Staffordshire.

"He's an attacking player who will excite our supporters whilst adding goals and assists to the team," said head coach Gary Bowyer. "Having played at this level already, he arrives ready to contribute and we look forward to seeing how he continues to develop with us."

For Burton, it is a statement that the rebuild out wide is under way. For Vickers, it is the chance to turn promise into end product, week after week, in a league he already knows.

His first opportunity to make an impression could come quickly. Burton are at home to AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday evening, and the Pirelli crowd will be eager to see what their new winger can bring.
