Borussia Dortmund Pursues Ibrahim Mbaye from PSG
Borussia Dortmund have set their sights on one of Paris Saint-Germain’s brightest young forwards, with talks under way over a potential move for Ibrahim Mbaye, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The German club have made contact to explore the conditions of a deal for the 18-year-old winger, sounding out PSG over his situation and availability. It is an early step, but a deliberate one: Dortmund want more punch in the final third, and Mbaye fits the profile they usually back – young, quick, and already tested at the highest level.
They are not alone in the chase. In England, Aston Villa have been credited with interest, adding Premier League weight to the growing list of admirers. Any move for Mbaye is unlikely to be straightforward, not least because he is already involved with the PSG first team and has options across Europe.
Mbaye has made 42 appearances for PSG, contributing four goals and four assists.
Those numbers are modest at first glance, but they come in a squad stacked with attacking talent, where minutes are hard-earned and every contribution is scrutinised. For scouts, the appeal lies in the blend of output and potential at just 18.
One major obstacle stands out: his contract. Mbaye is tied to PSG until 2028, giving the French champions a strong hand in any negotiation. They are under no pressure to sell, and any club wanting to prise him away will have to make a convincing sporting and financial case.
Dortmund, though, have built a reputation on exactly this kind of move – identifying a teenager on the verge of breaking out and handing him the stage to do it. The question now is whether they can outmanoeuvre Premier League money and PSG’s resolve to turn interest into a signature.
