Bayern Munich Nears €65m Deal for Frankfurt's Rising Star Brown
Bayern Munich are closing on a landmark deal for Frankfurt’s rising star Brown, with negotiations accelerating after weeks of hard bargaining between the two Bundesliga clubs.
Talks between Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl and Eintracht sporting director Markus Krosche have surged forward, with BILD reporting that both sides have now broadly agreed on a total package worth up to €65m (£56m). With performance-related add-ons included, the move would place the 22-year-old among the most expensive signings in the history of the German record champions.
That is the scale of Bayern’s conviction. And of Vincent Kompany’s.
Kompany’s Man
Internally, Kompany has pushed hard. The new Bayern coach sees Brown as a key piece in his rebuild: a left-sided weapon who can lock down the flank at full-back or surge higher up the pitch, stretching games and driving the tempo.
For a coach intent on injecting intensity and flexibility into a side that lost its edge last season, Brown ticks almost every box. High energy. Tactical intelligence. Comfortable in multiple roles down the left. It is the kind of signing that shapes a system, not just a squad list.
Structure, Not Size, Holds Up the Deal
The headline number is essentially settled. What remains on the table is the structure.
Bayern want a deal weighted heavily towards bonuses, tying a significant portion of the fee to Brown’s performances and achievements. Frankfurt, understandably, are pushing for a larger guaranteed sum up front before they let one of their standout assets leave.
It is a familiar tension at the elite level: risk versus security. This time, though, both clubs appear determined not to let it drag.
Bayern Determined to Avoid Another Saga
Last summer’s drawn-out saga involving Nick Woltemade, who eventually joined Newcastle from Stuttgart after months of public posturing and stalled negotiations with Bayern, still lingers in Munich’s corridors. Nobody at Säbener Straße wants a repeat.
Club officials are moving with intent. The aim is clear: finalise the framework, sign off the medical, and announce Brown before the story turns into a soap opera.
Medical on the Move
There is one logistical wrinkle. Brown is currently in the United States on international duty, thousands of kilometres away from Bavaria.
Rather than wait, the clubs are preparing to take the medical to him. Plans are in place for his mandatory examination to be conducted on-site in the US, with all data transferred digitally between medical teams. Modern football, modern solutions: scans, reports, and clearances can all be shared in real time, allowing the transfer to be wrapped up without pulling the player out of Germany’s camp.
The intention is to keep disruption to a minimum. The paperwork can move quickly. Brown should not have to.
Focus on Country, Future with Bayern
For the player, the priority is simple: get his domestic future sorted now, so his head is clear when the whistle blows.
The dynamic defender wants the deal done immediately, freeing him to concentrate fully on his international duties. Within Julian Nagelsmann’s squad, Brown is strongly tipped to claim a starting role, his versatility and relentless style fitting neatly into the national coach’s plans.
Germany open their tournament against Curacao on Sunday. By then, if all goes to plan, Brown expects his switch to Bavaria to be official.
A new campaign for his country on one continent. A new chapter with Germany’s biggest club waiting on the other.
