Barcelona Crush Valencia 5-0 as Raphinha Matches Messi’s Record and Yamal Scores Twice

Yamal Shines with Two Goals in Barcelona's Big Win

Lamine Yamal scored twice while Raphinha matched a notable Lionel Messi scoring record as Barcelona dominated Valencia 5-0 on Sunday. This victory gives Barcelona a three-point lead at the top of LaLiga over Real Madrid, who recently lost to Real Betis.

The match began strongly for Barcelona at Mestalla. In the 6th minute, Fermin Lopez delivered a smart pass to Yamal, who cleverly flicked the ball first-time from a tight angle into the net's upper corner. Though Yamal had another goal disallowed for offside two minutes later, the team doubled their lead in the 22nd minute when Lopez scored following a setup by Anthony Gordon. Goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski made a solid save before halftime, but Valencia struggled throughout, having only earned one point so far this season.

Raphinha Matches Messi’s 21st Century Scoring Feat

Just four minutes after the second half kicked off, Barcelona extended their lead to three. Yamal and Lopez linked up in a sweeping attack, allowing Lopez to assist Raphinha, who tapped in from close range. This marked Raphinha's sixth goal in four matches this season, making him only the second player in the 21st century to score six times in the first four league games for his club, a milestone Messi achieved twice.

Barcelona continued to control the game, with Rodri nearly scoring when he hit the crossbar with a header. As the match neared its end, Pedri contributed the fourth goal by expertly placing a shot into the bottom corner after receiving a pass from Dani Olmo. Olmo then played a key role again, providing the assist for Yamal's second goal, completing the 5-0 rout.

Gabriel Jesus Makes Barcelona Debut

The match also marked the first appearance of new signing Gabriel Jesus, who recently joined from Arsenal. Barcelona remain undefeated in the league, now holding 15 points from five games.
