Andres Iniesta Begins Managerial Career with Gulf United FC in UAE First Division

Iniesta Embarks on Coaching Journey in the UAE

Andres Iniesta, the celebrated Barcelona and Spain midfielder, is about to start his coaching career by taking charge of Gulf United FC in the UAE First Division. After retiring from playing in the Middle East two years ago, Iniesta has earned his UEFA A licence and now leads Dubai's young and ambitious squad.

From Player to Coach

The 42-year-old officially begins his role this Friday at Gulf United FC. Having ended his playing career with Emirates Club in 2024, Iniesta quickly moved into coaching, gaining his UEFA A licence before assuming the managerial role in June. He continues working toward his UEFA Pro Licence as he builds experience in the dugout.

Focused on Tactical Identity

Iniesta emphasized that his team has adopted a clear tactical approach ahead of their season opener at the New Dibba Stadium. Reflecting on the upcoming match, he said: "We are really looking forward to Friday. We have been working with the team for several weeks on a clear style of play, and now it is time to compete."

Youth Development at the Core

Gulf United stands out for its progressive outlook, having earned two promotions since its founding in 2019. With the youngest squad in the league, the club’s philosophy matches Iniesta's focus on developing individual talent alongside aiming for strong results. Away from Europe's spotlight, the four-time Champions League winner is set on building his coaching legacy by nurturing emerging players.

Challenging Start Against Dibba Al Fujairah

Iniesta's first competitive game will be against Dibba Al Fujairah, a team recently relegated from the top division and expected to push for immediate promotion. This match will test how well Gulf United's young players can implement Iniesta's plans under pressure. Early consistency will be vital to maintain momentum for a promotion challenge before the league's breaks.
