Adam Jackson Leaves Lincoln City After Six Years

Adam Jackson’s time as a Lincoln City player is over, but he has not yet walked away from the club he has called home for six years.

The defender’s contract has been terminated by mutual consent after he was told earlier in the summer he would not be included in the Imps’ 25-man squad for this season. A move failed to materialise before the transfer window shut, leaving both player and club to find a different solution.

They have. Jackson, 32, is now a free agent, yet Lincoln have opened the doors of their training ground to him while he searches for his next team.

It is an unusual situation, and it says plenty about the relationship built over time. Jackson has been a constant presence through Lincoln’s recent rise and rebuild, making 179 appearances in all competitions across six years and serving as one of the dressing room’s senior figures.

This season, though, his involvement has been reduced to a single outing – a Carabao Cup win away at Blackpool in late August. With the squad limit set and competition for places fierce, his path back into regular football at Sincil Bank effectively closed.

Lincoln’s sporting director Jez George underlined why the club chose to keep Jackson around the group, even after formally parting ways.

He said the decision to allow the centre-back to continue training is because they “will do anything to help Jacko with what comes next in his career”, adding that it “shows the respect both parties have for each other”.

So Jackson stays on the grass with his former team-mates, working, waiting, and preparing. The Lincoln chapter is finished on paper, but the next one is already being shaped on familiar turf.
