Zulay Pogba Shares Her Journey from Christianity to Islam After Marrying Paul Pogba
Zulay Pogba, wife of French football star Paul Pogba, revealed she converted to Islam seven years ago after being raised as a Christian. The Bolivian-born interior designer and mother of three shared her story on Instagram ahead of Ramadan, explaining how marriage influenced her spiritual path.
From Christianity to Islam
Zulay described how her faith changed following her marriage to Paul Pogba, a practicing Muslim. She said that after they married, she began learning more about Islam and decided to convert shortly after the birth of their first son. During a Q&A on February 9, the 32-year-old stated, "I converted to Islam 7 years ago, I was a Christian before. After Paul and I got married, I started reading and learning about the religion. I decided to convert after my first son was born."
Faith and Family
This shift came from a place of personal reflection and choice. Zulay, originally raised in a Christian household in Bolivia, explained that embracing Islam brought them closer as a family. Interfaith marriages often lead couples to find common spiritual ground, which seems true in their case.
Paul Pogba has spoken openly about his Islamic faith, mentioning how it helps him cope with the pressures of professional football. He has performed Umrah pilgrimages and observes Ramadan, showing devotion to his beliefs.

Zulay’s experience echoes others in the football world, like Jordan Ozuna, who converted to Islam during her relationship with Karim Benzema. Ozuna shared that her conversion was an emotional moment marked by deep personal research and love, especially after moving to Saudi Arabia with Benzema and welcoming their son.
Preparing for Ramadan
With Ramadan approaching, Zulay expressed excitement about the spiritual season. She said, "I am already preparing, calling it the perfect time to strengthen my connection with Allah." She emphasized sincerity in worship, noting, "Allah knows your heart, and that’s what matters most." Ramadan is observed by Muslims worldwide through fasting, prayer, and charity.
Life Beyond Faith
Aside from her spiritual life, Zulay balances her career as an interior designer with family duties. The couple divides their time between Europe and the Middle East and has faced challenges like Paul’s doping ban. Yet, Zulay’s faith appears to be a source of strength for their family.
