Youssef Belammari Injury Scare for Al Ahly's Pre-Season

Al Ahly’s push to reset their season has suffered an early jolt. Moroccan winger Youssef Belammari picked up a knee sprain during a friendly against Spanish side Badalona on Wednesday, throwing an unwelcome cloud over the Red Devils’ training camp in Spain.

The injury came at the "Bosc de Tosca" municipal stadium, where Al Ahly are sharpening up for a campaign they hope will erase the memory of last year’s failures. Belammari was forced off and taken straight to hospital for tests.

The club confirmed through their official channels that the 26-year-old underwent medical examinations and X-rays to determine the extent of the damage. The results will dictate everything: how serious the sprain is, what treatment he needs, and how long he will be out of training and matches.

Only then will the medical staff and coaching team know whether this is a brief scare or a long, painful setback that demands an extended spell of treatment and rehabilitation before he can return to competition.

For Al Ahly, the timing could hardly be more delicate. The Cairo giants are trying to regroup after a season in which they failed to land a single major title, stumbling both domestically and on the continental stage. This summer camp in Spain is meant to be the launchpad for a response, not a roll call of injuries.

Belammari arrived in January from Raja Casablanca on a three-and-a-half-year deal, recruited to inject fresh energy and creativity into the side. Now the club waits on the scans, hoping that one of their key winter investments is not about to spend the start of the new season watching from the stands.
