It’s a notable call. Kudus hasn’t started a match since before the injury that disrupted his momentum last season. He has been eased back in with substitute appearances, and the signs have been encouraging. Against Aston Villa, he delivered his sharpest display of the campaign so far: one assist on the board and another ruled out for offside.

Instead of chasing minutes in AFCON qualifiers, he’ll spend the next three weeks at Hotspur Way, building sharpness and staking a claim for a regular starting spot. For Tottenham, that level of commitment is priceless in a season that will only get more demanding.

England youth recognition for Spurs academy duo

While the senior squad quietens down, the academy continues to make noise.

Defender Malachi Hardy and forward Luca Williams-Barnett have both been called up to England U19, a significant step for two highly rated prospects. It’s the first time either has reached this age group with the national setup, even though both have been on England’s radar for some time.
