Nations Eliminated from the 2026 World Cup So Far

Countries Out of the 2026 World Cup

The 2026 World Cup started with 48 teams, but after the group stage, 20 countries have already been knocked out. Most of the earliest exits came from those who finished last in their groups.

Teams like Czech Republic, Qatar, Haiti, Turkey, Curacao, Tunisia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Jordan, Uzbekistan, and Panama all ended up in fourth place within their groups and therefore did not advance.

Besides those, four other nations placed third in their groups but had the poorest records among the third-placed teams: Iran, South Korea, Scotland, and Uruguay. They also failed to move on.

The knockout rounds have seen some surprises too. South Africa, Japan, Germany, and the Netherlands were eliminated in the round of 32. Germany’s exit was particularly notable as they lost to Paraguay in a penalty shootout, ending their hopes early despite being four-time World Cup champions.
