Serie A Transfer Scramble: Juventus Pursue Musso, Milan Freeze Out Players

While FIFA’s 10‑match ban for Leandro Paredes grabs the headlines and Serie A edges toward kick-off, the real chaos is unfolding in the final days of the transfer window. Phones are burning, deals are stalling, and some big names are being quietly pushed toward the exit.

Here’s where Italy’s top clubs stand as the clock starts to bite.

Juventus: Musso emerges in the goalkeeper shuffle

Juventus are rebuilding their goalkeeping hierarchy on the fly.

With Michele Di Gregorio close to joining Bournemouth and Mattia Perin seemingly on his way to Palermo, the Bianconeri need a new deputy behind Guglielmo Vicario. One of the names high on their list is Juan Musso of Atletico Madrid, according to Tuttosport.

The problem? Napoli.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Napoli not only like Musso, they have already convinced the Argentine and are working on a swap deal involving Alex Meret’s understudy Vanja Milinkovic-Savic and Musso. Juventus are in the race, but the player’s preference currently leans toward Naples, leaving the Turin club scrambling for alternatives if they lose this particular arm wrestle.

Milan: four players frozen out as numbers announced

At Milan, the break is no longer whispered. It’s written in black and white.

The club have officially announced their squad numbers for the new season. Four familiar names are missing: Fikayo Tomori, Youssouf Fofana, Marco Gimenez and Nkunku do not appear on the list.

No number, no safety net. With the league starting this weekend, their exclusion is a clear signal. The message from Milan is brutal but simple: they are on the market, and their departures now look like a matter of when, not if.

Inter: Pavard convincing Chivu, Bovio renewal locked in

At Inter, the mood is calmer, but decisions are still being shaped in these final days.

Benjamin Pavard’s future looks increasingly intertwined with the Nerazzurri. From a technical standpoint, he is ticking every box for Cristian Chivu. The coach didn’t hide his satisfaction in his press conference: “He's doing a great job, he has made himself available to the group. He has played matches at a certain level.”

Those are not the words of a coach preparing to lose a defender.

Behind him, Inter have also moved to secure their depth. Bovio’s contract renewal has been confirmed, and Romano reports that he is expected to stay with the club. Even so, his position could still be revisited in the final hours of the window if a late opportunity opens up. For now, though, both Pavard and Bovio look set to remain part of Chivu’s plans.

Napoli: Obaretin heads to France

Napoli, busy circling Musso, have quietly wrapped up another outgoing deal.

As reported by Alfredo Pedullà and Fabrizio Romano, the club have completed the transfer of Obaretin to Lorient. The French side beat competition from Sturm Graz, with the player previously linked to Genoa back in July.

The agreement is a loan with an option to buy set at €3.5 million, plus a percentage on any future resale. A tidy piece of business that could grow in value if Obaretin explodes in Ligue 1.

Roma: ownership blocks Fofana move amid financial strain

Roma’s transfer strategy is running straight into financial reality.

According to Il Tempo, the Giallorossi came very close to signing Fofana, with a deal worth €35 million plus bonuses on the table. The move, though, was reportedly blocked by the ownership, wary of such a heavy outlay after the immediate investment in Rodrigo Mora and given the club’s current economic situation.

The same financial caution hangs over another target. Il Messaggero reports that Roma like Luis Henrique, but there is still no agreement on how to structure the deal. The interest is real; the numbers are not aligned. For Roma, ambition is there, but the calculator is winning the argument.

Lazio: Mandas to stay and take the No. 1 role

Lazio, on the other hand, have made a clear internal choice.

With Ivan Provedel gone, Corriere dello Sport writes that the club intend to trust Christos Mandas as their first-choice goalkeeper. That stance cools the talk of Mandas heading to Juventus as a potential backup to Vicario, a profile the Bianconeri have long appreciated.

For now, Lazio are closing ranks. Mandas is not just staying; he is stepping into the spotlight.

Fiorentina: Kean sale hinges on an upgrade

In Florence, every move up front is conditional.

FirenzeViola reports that Fiorentina are actively searching for a replacement in case Moise Kean completes a move to Como. But there is a firm line in the sand: Kean will only be allowed to leave if a suitable – and preferably superior – replacement is found.

Fabio Paratici’s stance is clear. He does not want a striker of a lower level than Kean. The idea is to raise the bar again in attack, just as Fiorentina have tried to do across the rest of the squad during this window.

The message to the market is bold: Kean can go, but only if someone better walks through the door. With the season about to start and the window closing fast, that’s a high-stakes bet.
