Safia Middleton-Patel Joins Watford on Loan for 2026-27 Season
Safia Middleton-Patel will spend the 2026-27 campaign on loan at Watford after Manchester United agreed a season-long move for the Wales goalkeeper.
The 21-year-old returns to Vicarage Road after a productive spell in the second half of the 2023-24 season, this time committing to a full year with the Hornets in Women's Super League 2.
Middleton-Patel has been on the fringes of United’s first team but broke through with a senior debut against Newcastle United in December 2024. She went on to make three appearances under Marc Skinner last season, including a standout outing in United’s Champions League victory over Paris Saint-Germain at Old Trafford.
United underlined their interest in her development, saying in a club statement: “We will be tracking Saf's progress closely and wish her the very best of luck.”
For Middleton-Patel, regular minutes in goal at Watford now offer the next test in a career that is beginning to gather real momentum.
