Sacha Boey Likely to Stay at Bayern Munich, Says Freund

Bayern Munich appear set for an unexpected defensive continuity this season, with sporting director Christoph Freund admitting Sacha Boey is now more likely to remain at the club.

The German champions had been prepared to move the French right-back on this summer, but no deal was completed before the Bundesliga transfer window shut. With that deadline gone, the situation has swung.

"The probability is now greater that he'll stay here," Freund told reporters on Friday.

Boey, 25, has struggled to establish himself as a regular since arriving in Munich, which had opened the door to a potential exit. Bayern listened to offers and explored options. None turned into a transfer.

Through it all, Freund stressed, Boey’s conduct has never been an issue.

"He's always behaved in impeccable fashion. The plan was different, but this can happen in football," the sporting director said, underlining the club’s respect for the player’s professionalism despite the uncertainty around his future.

The next key date is now the closure of the remaining transfer windows across Europe and beyond. Until then, scenarios remain theoretically open. But Bayern’s stance is clear if no late move emerges.

"When all transfer windows are closed and he's still here, then he'll remain a player in our squad," Freund concluded.

For Boey, a summer that was supposed to bring a fresh start elsewhere may yet turn into a second chance in Munich.
