Romelu Lukaku's Transfer to Fenerbahce: A New Chapter in Turkey

Romelu Lukaku is on the brink of a new chapter in Turkey, with Napoli and Fenerbahce having reached full agreement over his transfer, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The deal is straightforward and significant. Fenerbahce will pay an initial €6 million, with performance-related bonuses bolted on, for the 33-year-old Belgian international. Lukaku has already settled personal terms with the Istanbul giants and is set to earn around €10 million per season on a lucrative contract that underlines his status as a marquee arrival for the Super Lig side.

The move has developed at speed. Negotiations between Napoli and Fenerbahce accelerated in recent days, and on Tuesday Di Marzio confirmed that a formal agreement between the clubs was in place. Once talks opened up properly, there was little hesitation from any side.

The medical? Already done. Lukaku has completed and passed his official examinations with Fenerbahce, clearing the most important physical hurdle before any big move. The two clubs are now locked into the final administrative phase, exchanging and signing off the formal transfer documents needed to close the deal.

All major obstacles have been removed. What remains is paperwork, signatures and timing.

Lukaku’s departure draws a line under his spell in Naples, where he spent two seasons with the Azzurri and left a tangible mark on Serie A. His time at Napoli coincided with domestic success at the highest level, highlighted by a Scudetto triumph in which the experienced centre-forward played his part in delivering the title.

Two years, one league crown, and a clear sense that his Italian chapter has run its course. Now comes Istanbul.

Fenerbahce, pushing to reassert themselves at the top of Turkish football, are preparing to welcome a striker with a proven record across Europe’s major leagues. With the medical complete and documents moving between the two clubs, an official announcement is expected in the coming hours.

Once the final signatures land, Lukaku will complete his transition to life in Istanbul and link up with his new team-mates as Fenerbahce fine-tune their preparations for the season ahead.
