Richard Kone Injured Again in QPR Development Match
Richard Kone’s stuttering season took another worrying turn on Monday as the QPR striker limped off less than half an hour into a development-squad outing.
The 23-year-old, top scorer for Rangers last season, started for the club’s Under-21s against Bolton’s youngsters in what was meant to be another step on his road back from injury. Instead, it ended with more concern.
Kone, who has managed only four first-team appearances this campaign and is still searching for his first goal of the season, had been working his way back after picking up an injury against Middlesbrough on 5 September. This run-out was supposed to sharpen him up, restore rhythm, and push him closer to senior contention.
Then came the challenge.
In a strong tackle during the first half, Kone went down and was clearly in discomfort. He tried to continue but couldn’t, eventually making his way off and heading straight down the tunnel as QPR’s staff assessed the damage.
The game itself offered little consolation. Bolton’s Under-21s ran out 3-1 winners, compounding a difficult afternoon for Rangers’ youngsters and their sidelined forward.
For now, the exact nature of Kone’s latest problem remains unclear. QPR will wait on further assessment, hoping this is a setback measured in days rather than weeks for a striker they badly need firing again.
