Reiss Nelson's Potential Move to West Ham Amid Arsenal Exit Talks

Arsenal are ready to move Reiss Nelson on this summer, with West Ham in talks over a deal for the winger as they build towards a promotion charge in the Championship.

Nelson, 26, has spent the last two seasons living life on loan rather than at the Emirates, first at Brentford and then under Marco Silva at Fulham. He returned to Arsenal for pre-season, but Mikel Arteta has no plans to use him in the upcoming campaign, and the club are actively seeking a move.

West Ham have stepped forward. The Hammers have approached Arsenal to explore Nelson’s availability as they look to add proven quality out wide for what they hope will be a season at the top end of the second tier.

Arsenal, for their part, are understood to be very open to the idea. Nelson is into the final year of his contract and the club have given West Ham encouragement to keep pushing, sensing an opportunity to secure a fee rather than lose him for nothing next summer.

Talks between the clubs are ongoing, with the structure and conditions of any deal still being worked through. The key unknown sits with the player. Nelson has yet to decide whether he is willing to drop into the Championship at this stage of his career, and that hesitation hangs over the negotiations.

Personal terms have not been discussed. Nelson and his camp are still weighing up the market, with other options under consideration. One potential route back onto the continent is understood to involve a Portuguese club now coached by Marco Silva, the manager who brought him to Fulham two seasons ago and knows exactly how to use him.

Arsenal’s preference is clear: a permanent sale this summer. That would draw a clean line under a homegrown talent who never quite nailed down a long-term role in north London. There have, however, been enquiries about another loan. If the Gunners do sanction a temporary move, they hold an option to extend Nelson’s contract by 12 months to protect his transfer value.

Nelson is not the only senior player who could leave before the window closes. Arsenal are also open to selling Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira as they reshape the squad.

Jesus, who has been linked with Napoli, has been priced at up to £20million. That figure reflects both his pedigree and Arsenal’s willingness to move on from a forward whose time as an automatic starter has slipped away. As things stand, though, there has been no formal approach from the Italian club, and interest has yet to harden into a bid.

Vieira, another who has struggled to secure a regular place, is also available if the right offer arrives, as Arsenal look to trim numbers and create room for future business.

Lower down the depth chart, the club are working on a different kind of move for Tommy Setford. Arsenal want the young goalkeeper to secure regular first-team minutes this season and are seeking a loan that will give him exactly that.
