Ravens Collapse After Strong Start as Gaels Score Three

Kingston, ON – For 45 minutes, Carleton looked in control. By the hour mark, the game was gone.

The Ravens opened sharply under the Friday night lights, carving out early chances and pinning Queen’s back. Xavier-Etienne Patry, Damiano Totten and Marek Achadinha all found pockets of space in the opening stages, asking questions of the Gaels back line and setting the tone.

Then the tempo dipped.

Carleton kept the ball, managed the game and, crucially, kept Queen’s quiet. The Gaels failed to register a shot attempt in the first half, a reflection of how assured the visitors appeared heading into the break.

A quick Queen’s surge flipped the match on its head early in the second half. Luke Harrop was whistled for a foul inside the box, and Damola Akanni stepped up to punish the mistake from the penalty spot, coolly making it 1-0.

Instead, Queen’s smelled blood. Isaac Molouba struck, and before Carleton could reset, Sebastian Aguade added another less than a minute later. Three goals in a flash. From stalemate to 3-0 in the blink of an eye, the Ravens’ solid first half suddenly felt distant.

Carleton tried to claw something back in the final ten minutes. Achadinha rose well to meet a cross, but his header couldn’t find the net. Moments later, Adrijan Vrankovic had a look of his own, only to see that chance also go begging.

No consolation, no late twist. Just a harsh lesson on how quickly a game can slip.

The Ravens won’t have long to dwell on it. They’re back on the road Sunday at 4:00 p.m., heading to Ontario Tech with a clear task: prove that this collapse was a blip, not the start of a trend.
