PSV Nears Double Transfer Deal for Sano and Kostic
Eindhoven woke up to the sound of a statement being made.
By mid-morning on Wednesday, transfer journalist Mounir Boualin’s footage from outside Anna TopSupport left little room for doubt: PSV are on the brink of landing Kodai Sano and Filip Kostic on the same day.
At around 10:00, Sano was the first to step through the doors of the familiar medical facility, where PSV routinely put prospective signings through their paces before any contracts are signed. Just 22, the Japanese midfielder is set to arrive from NEC for just under €15 million – a sizeable fee by Eredivisie standards and a clear sign of intent from the champions.
Two hours later, the second act.
Kostic, 33 and fresh from the end of his spell at Juventus, checked in for his own tests. A free agent for a month after his contract in Turin expired, the experienced Serbian wide man now stands on the verge of a move that would add proven quality and know-how to Peter Bosz’s squad.
For PSV, this is not just another busy day in the window. It is a reshaping of their options in one sweep.
Bosz, who has pushed hard for reinforcements, is set to be rewarded with what inside the club are viewed as two top-tier additions for the VriendenLoterij Eredivisie campaign. Sano brings energy and progression from midfield; Kostic, if the deal is finalised, offers the sort of left-sided delivery and work rate that can tilt tight games.
The double move also continues a clear pattern from technical director Earnest Stewart. Earlier in the window, he prised Sven Mijnans from AZ for €13 million, strengthening the core of the team at the Philips Stadion with another domestic standout.
One by one, the pieces are dropping into place in Eindhoven. The medicals are done, the contracts loom, and PSV’s rivals can see exactly where this is heading.
